MESSAGE FROM THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE
The Milton Music Teachers’ Association is pleased to present the syllabus for our 26th Biennial Music Festival. The festival was created in 1980 to support the musical growth and development of students of independent music teachers in Milton, Ontario. Since then, the festival has grown to enjoy the contributions of teachers and students from across the GTA. Over time, we have continued to add classes and events to enrich the experience of our participants and meet with changing musical landscapes.
New Class Alert! In addition to classes for piano, voice, ensembles and composition, we have created a new class open to any instrumentalist (except voice and piano). OPEN INSTRUMENTAL SOLO CLASS-ANY INSTRUMENT (NON-COMPETITIVE). Students of guitar, ukelele, brass, woodwinds or strings are encouraged to enter this class for the experience performing at the festival and receiving an adjudication. Although not eligible for scholarships, these participants may be asked to perform at the Grand Concert.
The Milton Music Teachers’ Association expresses its gratitude for the continuing support of the Halton community over the years. Donations for scholarships and paid advertising ensure the continuation of our festival. If you are interested in supporting the festival in either of these ways please contact mmtascholarships@gmail.com for more information.
For additional information on the festival and to register please visit www.mmta.ca. The registration deadline is February 28, 2026. Performers will be notified by email of their performance day, time and location.
We look forward to seeing you in Milton in the spring!
Sincerely,
The Festival Committee
